Hello— I’m working on a short documentary film about Garden City Kansas, called Garden City Works, sponsored by the Finney County Historical Society. I have received grants from the Kansas Humanities Council, the Center for Kansas Studies at Washburn University, and a pending grant from the Kansas Studies Institute at Johnson County Community College. The film will tell the surprising story of Garden City’s success in making diversity work. I just learned about you a few days ago, and of course it is too late for me to apply for funding for this year. Our current funding will barely pay out of pocket expenses for a production at the professional level in which we work. Also because of the great access we have to this story, we are thinking of making the film a longer production. Ours is certainly not a tourism film; what it will do is reveal how very fascinating Garden City is. So I am writing to see whether you would consider partial funding of my project. Attached is a 4 minute trailer that will give you a sense of part of what our project will portray. I look forward to hearing from you. Best regards, Steve The password: garden
Steve - clearly, your planned documentary illustrates the quality of life in Western Kansas which is communicated to both residents and visitors. Mariah Fund would be interested in your grant application. I would appreciate you calling us at 620-255-2910, when it's convenient.
