Dodge City, Kansas Celebrates its 140th Birthday

Join in celebration of Dodge City’s 140th Birthday on June 16, 2012 at the Ford County Government Center(100 Gunsmoke). The celebration will open at 1:00 PM with a poem from Cowboy Poet and Dodge City Marshal Allen Bailey followed by a presentation of the Early History of Dodge City by City Commissioner and Historian Jim Sherer. Then, a concert will be presented by Barry Ward who was named Male Vocalist of the Year of the Western Division of the Country Gospel Music Association. After the concert, the celebration will continue in Eisenhower Park, with a free ice cream social. While visitors enjoy their ice cream they will be treated to a visit from the Boot Hill cast of entertainers.   Great Lakes Airlines has generously donated two round trip plane tickets to Denver for this event. The 140th Birthday Celebration is sponsored by The City of Dodge City, Ford County, the Tourism Task Force, the Dodge City CVB, Hiland Dairy and Dodge City Main Street.
